Airport
Voted the #1 Airport in Canada for Customer Service in 2004-2005, the Comox Valley International Airport, YQQ, is the fastest growing airport in BC. The airport served over 238,000 passengers in 2006 and has enjoyed an average annual increase of approximately 20,000 passengers every year since 2001. YQQ has a 10,000 foot runway - the 2nd longest in British Columbia after the Vancouver International Airport. It can easily handle commercial 747-400's aircraft.
The Comox Airport is operated through agreement with the Department of National Defense at CFB Comox and is a 24 hour, 365 days per year, operating airport. Fuel services, full crash and fire rescues are all available for civilian, military and commercial aircraft, such as charters, air freight, medivacs, and courier services.
- Westjet Airlines offers daily direct service from Courtenay to Calgary and Edmonton is also offered and will open up many business possibilities between the two communities.
- Pacific Coastal Airlines offers numerous daily flights to Vancouver with connections to more locations such as Port Hardy, Rivers Inlet, Bella Bella, Bella Coola, Ocean Falls and other mid-coast communities.
- Central Mountain Air provides direct flights for Air Canada to Vancouver which takes only 30 minutes.
- Air Canada Jazz offers direct flights to Calgary.
Several charter airlines offer direct flights to Mexican destinations such as Puerto Vallarta and Cancun.
Courtenay Air Park
The Courtenay Airpark is owned by the City of Courtenay and operated by members of the Airpark Association. The area is designated parkland and features an 1800 X 60' paved runway, with adjacent floatplane ramp. The Airpark has a public license and is certified by Transport Canada. Services at the Airpark include 100 low lead and 80/87 fuel, all oil, and mechanical servicing. As well there is a fresh water seaplane facility. Available business services include training, tours, rentals, craft maintenance and charters, and are provided by the Courtenay Flight Center, Contract Air Care, and Timberland Helicopters.
