Silken Laumann Event Highlight of Spirit Week Feb. 6 - 14, 2009 |

 The Comox Valley Spirit of BC Community Committee is presenting a series of exciting events for this years 2009 Spirit of BC week. The pinnacle of the week is the Comox Valley Spirit of BC Countdown to 2010 Gala event at the Florence Filberg Centre this wednesday February 11th featuring keynote speaker Silken Laumann. Known as Canada’s most beloved Olympian, Silken will be spreading her message of mental strength and courage. Silken Laumann demonstrated her strength in 1992 when she came back from a devastating accident only 10 weeks before the Olympic Games to win a bronze medal for Canada. Along with Silken’s speech the evening will feature fantastic appetizers by the Chef’s of the Kingfisher and fashion show presented by local sporting gear businesses. Silken Laumann is brought to the Valley by the Comox Valley Spirit of BC Community Committee, ActNow BC, and the Government of Canada.
