The Olympic spirit
      lives in the Comox Valley.

The mandate of our Comox Valley Spirit of BC Community Committee is to ensure that the whole of the Comox Valley work together to leverage Olympic and non-Olympic community opportunities in the areas of sport & recreation, arts & culture, tourism, trade & investment, procurement, literacy and volunteerism.

The Committee was the only Vancouver Island committee to send representatives to the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics. Lead by former Olympian Susan Kelsey, the committee has held several Spirit of BC Week events and was instrumental in the development of the initial support and plans around the Vancouver Island Mountain Sports Centre. Today the Committee is actively working on attracting International Olympic Committee teams to train in the region and is pursuing the 2010 Torch Relay to ensure the Comox Valley is one of the stops on the historic tour.

Committee Members
This dynamic committee is comprised of volunteers from a cross section of community sectors including business, tourism, arts and culture, transportation and recreation. Invest Comox Valley provides some staff support to the Comox Valley Spirit of BC Community Committee which is Chaired by Former Olympian, Susan Kelsey. The committee is an independent group that was established by the Provincial Government in 2003 following the successful bid announcement for the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
